Back After Half Term: Your Pre-Monday Premises Walk-Round

Half term's over and everyone's heading back - pupils, staff, residents, visitors. Before the doors open on Monday morning, a short walk-round of the premises can catch the small things before they become Monday-morning problems.

What to check on your pre-Monday walk-round

Start outside:

  • car park and pathways clear of leaves and debris,

  • drains running freely,

  • any half-term line marking or signage work fully cured and ready for foot traffic.

Then move inside:

  • heating back up and running at a sensible temperature,

  • lighting working throughout,

  • any areas that had work done over the break signed off and genuinely ready to use.

Don't skip the obvious bits

  • Fire exits clear,

  • extinguishers in place and in date,

  • first aid supplies stocked.

It's easy to assume everything's fine because nothing's been touched - but an empty building for a week is exactly when small issues (a flickering light, a sticking door, a drip somewhere) have time to turn into bigger ones unnoticed.

A fifteen-minute walk-round on Sunday afternoon or first thing Monday is a small investment against a chaotic first morning back.

If anything from half term's work list didn't get finished, Vital Facilities Solutions can help you close it out quickly. Right, Back After Half Term: Your Pre-Monday Premises Walk-Round done!
