Three Jobs to Get Done While Your School or Care Home Site Is Quiet This Half Term

Half term means an empty site - and an empty site is the best chance you'll get all term to catch up on the jobs that are impossible to do with pupils, staff or residents around. Here are three worth prioritising this week.

Site team clearing leaves out of drains

1. Clear the drains and gutters before the next downpour

Autumn leaves build up fast, and a blocked drain or gutter during a half-term storm can mean standing water, slip hazards, or worse by the time everyone's back on Monday. A quick walk-round with a broom and a look up at the gutters now saves a much bigger job later.

2. Get the line marking and signage refreshed

Faded playground markings, worn car park lines, or peeling safety signage are easy to put off when the site's in daily use. With everyone away, this is the week to get it done properly, with plenty of time for things to cure before Monday morning.

3. Do the jobs that need the building empty

Deep cleans, flooring repairs, PPM checks, anything that needs access to areas that are normally full of people - half term is the window. If there's a job you've been pushing to "next holiday" for a few terms running, this is the one to actually book in.

If any of these are on your list and you'd like a hand, get in touch with the Vital Facilities Solutions team and we'll get it sorted before everyone's back. Thats tree Jobs to Get Done While Your School or Care Home Site Is Quiet!
